Blog friends, I’m finally ready to tell you something.
The reason I haven’t written for awhile – it’s because of a big life change coming our way.
Tony and I … are moving to Bangor!
Bangor is about 2 hours north of Lewiston, and where I did a lot of growing up. It’s where my parents, sister, and one of my brothers lives today. Tony and I had the opportunity to take jobs at a great company up there – the Bangor Daily News – and we decided to go for it.
The decision was hard, and in a lot of ways I feel like this blog is as much about Lewiston as it is about running. Working in local media, you have to present this enthusiasm for the community you’re covering. And my enthusiasm is genuine. I love it here and Lewiston feels like the place of my rebirth, the place where Tony and I started our life together, and a place that will ALWAYS be home in my heart. I started running a month after we moved in to our new house. It came like the epiphany that “this is the next natural step in my life.” First college, then job, then husband, the house. Then there was room for self reflection, self improvement.
I learned this community by walking and then running through its streets. I made friends by running. Best friends. They will always be home, too.
We lived here for four years and it has been the best four years.
I don’t know what the future holds but I know that the only way forward is through. I’ll find new running routes and new running friends in Bangor. They won’t replace what I had but I know that there is no limit to our capacity to find friendship and happiness. And that is a comforting thought.
