I just wrote a crazy long post (pictures, really) about what I looked like before and after the Couch to 5K.
I had a few things up on the blog back when it was on Tumblr, and I’ve posted a few things over time about the progress I was doing, but it was the first overarching progress report I’d done in awhile. It’s funny to look back and think, “back in January, I thought I was so fit and trim … but I was 25 pounds heavier then.”
I wonder how I’ll look back on this in a year. Well, I hope. Also, still under 160 pounds, I hope.
So I came up with a list of guiding principals that have helped me along the way. Here’s a sneak preview:
- Think small.
- Food is fuel.
- It’s the sum of many days, not what you do one day, that counts.
- Direct your extra energy towards ensuring your success.
- Start with what’s easy.
- Make body-oriented, not results-oriented goals.
- Every day is a chance to do it right.
- Your health is a priority.
- Plan ahead.
- Recognize (and work towards minimizing) stress.
- Accept that there is no such thing as instant results.
- ALWAYS eat breakfast.
- Get on the scale (only) once a day.
- Have a back-up.
- You don’t have to buy a lot of gear.
- Spot reduction is a myth.
- Always be moving.
- Eat more plants.
… the first one coming in the next day or so.
I’m on a bus (missed the train. By a minute! DRAT!) to a conference right now. Yoga last night was amazing and relaxing and … actually, a pretty decent workout.
