A recovery run watching the morning fog burn off the urban landscape

I was so sore yesterday, I didn’t think I’d be able to run today. But I got up at 6 a.m. and … the road, it called …

It was a very foggy morning.

That’s supposed to depict the condensation on the cars. Anyway. I wore my bright orange shirt, laced up, and headed off with the September edition of the Hype Machine podcast.

I realized after about a quarter mile that I had left my chest strap for my heart rate monitor at home, and I didn’t even start my watch. Whatever. This was just a run for recovery and flow — I took it slow and let pace be the output, not the goal.

  •  Mile 1 – Average 12:00 /mile
  • Mile 2 – Average 11:59 /mile
  • Mile 3 – Average 11:38 /mile
  • Mile 4 – Average 11:42 /mile
  • Mile 5 – Average 11:35 /mile

My legs were sore, but I felt better when I was done.

I like running this five-mile route. It takes me through down town Lewiston, and I get to see the city wake up.
