Tired of winter

It’s been a theme in several of my friends’ blogs today that, no matter where we are, we are all tired of winter.

Me too, guys. Today I had the opportunity to run outside at lunch, but I didn’t. I’m doing six miles on the dreadmill tonight.  Voluntarily. Because they will be six warm, safe miles. And I am tired of cold. I don’t even want to run less than 5 miles outside any more, because it takes about 30 minutes just to banish the aching cold feeling.

I feel guilty. This weekend was the second weekend in a row I skipped the long run. But I’m trying not to beat myself up, because purely by the numbers, I’m still running the quantity of miles that I’ve been running.

Two months ago, 5 miles was the longest I’ve ever ran. Now it’s something I can do two or three times a week. I’m trying to focus on that, instead of how much I hate winter and its coming between me and running.

blah! Winter!

Thursday. I’ll try to focus on 38 degrees and sunny on Thursday. Which also happens to be my birthday. 🙂
